A Sabattus man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Litchfield.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the accident happened just after 6:30 Monday morning. 67-year-old Michael Oliver was traveling on Route 197 in Litchfield when his Chevrolet Blazer crossed the centerline and slammed head-on into a pine tree. The accident happened near Gowell's Shop n' Save.

Oliver was alone in the vehicle and was not wearing his seat belt. Trooper Erin James said it did not appear that road conditions contributed to the accident.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
