Police have released the names of those affected by a barn collapse in the town of Knox.

The Waldo County Sheriff's Office says the collapse was reported just before 9:30 Thursday morning at a structure  at 1060 Belfast Road. Workers with Suydam & Sons of Northport were tearing the barn down when the roof collapsed on one of the workers, trapping him beneath.

Despite the efforts of contractors on the scene, and the first responders, 55-year-old William Viles of Belfast died at the scene. 25-year-old Brandon Dodge of Belfast was transported to Waldo County General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A third worker, 23-year-old Charles Haskins of Jackson, was treated for minor injuries. Also on the scene was the proprietor of Suydam & Sons, William Magruder of Northport.

Fire Departments from Montville, Freedom, Brooks, Jackson, Thorndike, and Unity all responded to the call, as well as ambulances from Unity, Brooks, and Liberty. LifeFlight was initially called but ultimately canceled prior to arrival.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, which is standard protocol with all serious workplace injuries or deaths. Detectives with the Waldo County Sheriff's Office are aiding in the investigation.
