A collision between a tractor trailer and a car in Kingfield has left one person dead and two others injured.

The accident happened at around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon on Route 27 in Kingfield. WABI-TV reports a car was traveling south when it lost traction and started to skid sideways, right into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer. The semi's driver was unable to avoid hitting the car.

28-year-old Seth Gordon of Farmington, who was a passenger in the car, was killed instantly. The car's driver, 76-year-old Leroy Gordon, and a passenger, 18-year-old Scott Kidder, both of Farmington, were taken to the hospital. There's no word on how badly they were hurt. The truck's driver wasn't injured.

Officials say road conditions contributed to the crash that remains under investigation.
