Kid-Friendly Event Planned For Saturday In Hampden

An annual event returns Saturday with games, raffle prizes, food, fireworks, a parade and many other fun activities.

The 2015 Hampden Children’s Day will take place Saturday at Weatherbee Elementary.

Festivities kickoff at 8:30 a.m. with a 1k Fun Run and the Craig Thomas McBean 5k race.

The event will also include a bounce house, face painting, a petting zoo, touch a truck, a pie eating contest, a parade, a magician, a juggler and children's music.

Food vendors will offer fried dough, cheeseburgers and desserts.

Items that will be raffled away include a Polar Kraft fishing boat, a 21-speed bicycle and a barbecue grill.

The event will end with a fireworks display at the Weatherbee School Baseball Field at 9:00.
