The goal of this years dinner & auction is to raise money for the Katahdin Region’s new All Terrain Vehicle (ATV), the Cancer Hospitality House of Maine, and other local charities. An ATV was purchased for our local police department to patrol the region’s multi-use trail system to keep it safe for residents and visitors. The Katahdin Area Rotary Club made the commitment to provide the matching funds for the ATV which was recently purchased by the Town of Millinocket.

Having lost two Rotary members to cancer recently, dedicating a portion of the auctions proceeds to the Cancer Hospitality House of Maine was an easy decision.  The Old Town Rotary Club started the project in 2011 as a tribute to one of their young members, Sarah, who lost her life to cancer. Their sole purpose is to develop, construct, and operate residential housing for cancer patients receiving care at Eastern Maine Medical Center’s Cancer Care of Maine. The Katahdin Area Rotary club found this project near and dear to their hearts knowing there is a need within the communities for a place for cancer patients to stay at low or no cost when receiving cancer treatments.

East Millinocket's Mark 'Guitar' Miller will also provide entertainment during the evening. As being a native son of Millinocket, and knowing all that this organization does, I do hope you attend and support the Katahdin Area Rotary Clubs Dinner & Auction tonight at 5:00 p.m. at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
