Kane Brown has dropped the lyric video for his latest single, "What Ifs," featuring his former classmate and fellow country star Lauren Alaina. The video, which readers can watch above, captures a misty, winding road trip as the singers pose a series of hypothetical questions that are answered in the catchy, romantic blend of pop and country sound.

Brown and Alaina's friendship began in chorus class at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School in Georgia and followed the young artists' winding roads to Nashville. Brown was a reluctant participant in that choir class, until Alaina spurred him to tap into his abilities.

“We were sitting in class one day, and I heard him humming, and I was like, ‘Can you sing?’" Alaina tells People in a joint interview with Brown. "And [he] said, ‘No, I don’t sing in front of people.’ And I was like, ‘Well, you’re going to today.’”

The shy Brown opened up, and the results were impressive: “He was even better than I thought he would be," Alaina says, adding with a laugh, "When he started singing, I was like, ‘Stop singing! I want to be the best singer in class.'"

The "What Ifs" lyric video ends with a "to be continued ..." promise, giving fans hope for the more to come from the two rising stars.

“What Ifs” is the third single from Brown’s eponymous debut album on RCA Nashville, following “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now,” released in June of 2016, and August’s “Thunder in the Rain.” Alaina is the runner-up from Season 10 of American Idol, and recently earned her first No. 1 song.
