Kaci Hickox Is Suing New Jersey Officials

The nurse who made the news for protesting a quarantine after she returned from treating Ebola patients is now claiming her legal rights were violated.

Attorneys for Kaci Hickox told the AP that lawsuits were filed Thursday against New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and state health department officials. The complaints alleged that Hickox was held against her will last year after she returned from treating Ebola patients in Sierra Leone. She was kept in a special tent, outfitted with a hospital bed, computer, and chemical toilet.

Hickox tested negative for Ebola in two tests but was kept quarantined for more than two days. She was then driven to Fort Kent, Maine, where she rejected the state's voluntary quarantine. A Maine judge later ruled that she could go wherever she pleased as long as she continued daily monitoring of her health.

She's now living in Oregon and has said that, for the most part, she was satisfied with the judge's ruling and has no intention of filing a similar suit against Maine.
