The man convicted of killing a Millinocket teenager nearly 40 years ago received his prison sentence today.

WABI-TV reports  that Philip Scott Fournier will spend 45 years in prison after being  found guilty in February of killing 16-year-old Joyce McLain in 1980. Her body was found in the woods behind the soccer field for Schenck High school two days after she went jogging.

Fournier broke into a garage the same night that McLain died and stole an oil truck. After he crashed the truck, he spent eight days in a coma. Fournier later told police that he was trying to kill himself.

Fournier's lawyer says they will appeal.
