The Maine Department of Transportation announced today that the painting project on the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge is complete. Both lanes of traffic are now open to motorists, just in time for the holiday season.

The painting project started over the summer, with traffic reduced to one lane for the past several months. Motorists driving from Bangor to Brewer were often frustrated when they got to the intersection by the bridge, only to remember that it was only accessible for traffic traveling from Brewer to Bangor.

But the finished product is definitely worth it, as the structure has been repaired and repainted. A beautiful, bright green bridge will really help dress up the Bangor/Brewer waterfronts!
