A few weeks without rain during the late summer months in Maine creates tinder-dry conditions that give forest fires just what they need to take hold.

Yesterday the Maine Forest Service was called out to battle several fire in Downeast Maine and they need your help finding whoever may be responsible for setting them.

Forest Ranger Jeff Currier says fire were set in Princeton (Pokey Road), Charlotte (Station Road), Meddybemps (Higgins Road), Baileyville (Grand Falls Road). Fires were also set along Route 1 in Indian Township and in Grand Lake Stream (Amazon Road) around 1:30 yesterday afternoon.

If you have any helpful information as to who may be responsible for setting thees fires you're asked to call the Arson HotLine at 1-800-987-0257.

So far, Ranger Currier says all of the fires have been contained to less than an acre. No structures have been threatened and there have been no injuries to firefighters.
