School officials at John Bapst Memorial High School say an investigation into inappropriate behavior by teacher Jeremiah Gorman includes the alleged theft of funds from the Student Senate. Gorman committed suicide over the weekend after police searched his home and classroom.

Administrators held a second assembly in two days to explain to students the latest information on the investigation. Police began investigating Gorman after a 16-year-old female student reported that someone on a social media site had requested nude pictures, which she provided. She said she suspected it was a teacher from John Bapst.

The investigation turned up at least twenty-five aliases on several different social media sites that police tied to Gorman, prompting an accusation of sexual exploitation of a minor. The searches were conducted on Friday. Saturday, Gorman's body was found in a Bangor hotel room where police say he had taken his own life.

Today, head of schools at John Bapst Mel MacKay told students that Gorman had also allegedly taken money from the Student Senate. The Social Sciences teacher was the faculty advisor for the group.

MacKay has encouraged any students or parents who have information about the investigation to contact the police. WABI-TV reports Gorman's family plans a private funeral for him and ask that students and staff not attend.
