For me, panic and dread starts to set in when I think about my son, Adam, and the future of his eyesight. He has only one functioning eye, having lost the other in a hunting accident three years ago. There is a chance that he'll have no sight some day--and as a dad who loves his kids, it haunts me, as it does Adam.

So, what if that day finally comes? Then what? Remaining positive and praying is always at the top of the list. But also drawing inspiration from others who have lost in a major way.

Inspiration today comes from a 15-year-old girl in Texas. As a baby she started losing her eyesight, and has now lost much of her sight and is considered legally blind. But Charlotte Brown has not let her disability slow her down. She is considered one of the top pole vaulters in the country.
