The State Fire Marshal's Office has released the name of a man who was one of two people killed in a house fire in Orrington.

51-year-old Burton Hagelin was renting a room at the Brewer Lake Road Home when the fire broke out two weeks ago. Also killed was 55-year-old Shelly Lynn Murphy. The cause of death for both people was determined to smoke inhalation. Three other people were able to escape.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says one of the reasons it took so long to identify Hagelin is because he told the other residents that he was someone else. He was originally from Dover-Foxcroft and had only been living there for a couple of months.

The house was a total loss. Investigators say the fire started on the first floor, but there was too much damage to determine exactly how it started.
