A northbound lane on I-95 in Aroostook County will remain closed until at least September following a wreck involving a semi on Wednesday.

Police say 58-year-old Gary Theriault of Fort Kent was hauling a delimber that smacked an overpass on Oakfield-Smyrna Road in Oakfield.

Maine Department of Transportation spokesman Ted Talbot tells the Bangor Daily News a beam supporting the overpass sustained “major structural damage” and the overpass requires repairs.

Talbot says a northbound lane will remain open through the summer so rerouting traffic isn't necessary.

Theriault was cited for having a load that was over height. Police say additional charges could be coming.

No one was hurt in the accident.
