Heroin Documentary Filmed in Portland, Maine (Video)

The New York Times has published a documentary on heroin use that was filmed in Portland, Maine. Shocking and scary, it shows the prevalence of the drug in our state and the people who use it.

State law enforcement officials have speculated that the decrease in pharmacy robberies may be, in part, due to the rise in heroin availability in the state. Addicts in this short documentary support that theory.

I’l warn you that the video is shocking and frightening. Users talk openly about their addiction. There are pictures of people shooting up. It’s stark. It’s honest. It’s real. And maybe it’s something you should watch with your teens to show them the dangers of using.
