A Hermon was was sentenced to probation on Wednesday after failing to register as a sex offender.

Charles Roberson, 44, was sentenced in U.S District Court In Bangor by Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr. to five years probation. The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge on July 21, 2016

According to court records, in 2004, Roberson was convicted in Minnesota of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the First Degree.  This felony conviction made Roberson a lifetime sex offender registrant.

Roberson moved from Minnesota in 2015 and began living and working in Hermon.  He did not notify the Minnesota Predatory Offender Registration unit that he was moving.  Further, up until his arrest on February 23, 2016, he made no attempt to register with the Maine State Police Sex Offender Registry.
