Prom season is expensive and, for many families, impossible to afford. But a Hermon business has started a venture to help make it a perfect prom for everyone, despite their family's financial situation!

Sharon White runs the Absolute Beauty Salon on Route 2 in Hermon. She told me she's doing it because she just wants to help local young ladies feel beautiful on their special night, without breaking their parents' bank. And let's face it, outfitting a teen for prom is an expensive proposition!

So Sharon is currently collecting donations of gently used prom, graduation, semi-formal dresses, shoes, jewelry, and even hair pieces, to be offered at little or no cost to area teens. She's also looking for donations of services to be offered in a gift basket that will be given away. Some of the ideas she had include limousine service, a restaurant gift card, salon services, beauty products a girl could put in her purse, etc.

Sharon has set up a Facebook page called 'My Special Night' and can be contacted there by anyone interested in making a donation. Or give her a call at 944-8853.

The gowns and accessories are on display at Sharon's shop, under the Morgan Hill Event Center, Route 2 in Hermon. Give Sharon a call if you have anything you'd like to donate or with any questions about what she has in the shop. Or better yet, just stop by and check it out! Here's hoping for lots of prom dreams coming true!
