Head-On Crash In Sabattus Leaves One Dead, Two Hurt

Police are investigating a crash that took the life of a Lewiston man and left two others hurt, including a young child.

It happened in Sabattus just before 3 p.m. on Monday.

Police said Zachary Gibbens, 46, was declared dead at the scene. He was driving a box truck.

His vehicle collided with a van driven by Rebecca Stewart, 28, of Sabattus. Stewart and a small child who was a passenger in the vehicle were extricated by emergency crews and taken to a local hospital. Police did not immediately release the conditions of the two victims.

Police have not said what led up to the accident. It remains under investigation.
