Head-On Collision Involves A Houlton Police Pickup Truck
State Police are investigating a head-on collision in Harrington between an SUV and a police pickup truck.
Trooper Adam Bell responded to the crash on US 1 in Hodgdon, just after 7:30 Friday night. Houlton Police officer Jasmine Cyr was on routine patrol and was traveling south when she pulled into a business parking lot to turn around and head north. As she drove onto US 1 from the business driveway, she failed to see an oncoming SUV and was struck head-on. Police say a large snow bank blocked her view and contributed to the accident.
The SUV's driver, 42-year-old Monica Jones of Amity, and two juvenile passengers were taken to Houlton Regional Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. Officer Cyr was also taken to the hospital with suspected head injuries.
Everyone involved in the accident was wearing a seat belt and the airbags deployed, preventing more serious injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
