Every week we feature a new hometown and share photos and facts using hashtags on social media. This week our #hashtag hometown is Sangerville!

In the early 1800s, an apple tree was brought to the town and to begin the first orchard in the area. What started as an apple tree became Sangerville! A great hometown for those who love the country and all the comes with it.

Though the town once hosted mills of all types, today it is known for its wonderful areas of recreation. Manhanock Pond and Center Pond are large and offer year-round recreation opportunities.

The town is also the birthplace of Sir Hiram S. Maxim who was the inventor of the first self-powered machine gun. Sir Harry Oakes, a mining tycoon, also was born here.
