#Hashtag Hometown of the Week: Greenville

Every week we feature a new hometown and share photos and facts using hashtags on social media. This week our #hashtag hometown is Greenville!

The town with the largest body of fresh water in the state, Moosehead Lake, a lot of Greenville is larger than other towns in the state. A large amount of tourists flock year round for one or more activities on a long list of recreational activities available in the area.

Snowmobiling, ice fishing, water planes, boating, hiking, and ATVing are just some of the common activities in the area. A popular hike will take you to some of the areas history, the Elephant Mountain plane crash.

Greenville is also home to the Katahdin, a steam ship known for plying the waters of Moosehead since the 1830's. A unique feature only found in this hometown! History is still seen all over town with some original hotels and homes still standing.
