Over the years, it has become a way for the community to come together to celebrate the treasured value of small town life. Young, old and in-between, locals, summer people and tourists, all participate in the festivities, and our lawns, store windows and buildings proudly display the plastic pink creatures. Jul 13 thru Jul 21, 2013. Fort Fairfield hosts the annual Maine Potato Blossom Festival mid-July each year when the potato blossoms are in full bloom. We calculate each years' dates by the tradition that our huge parade is always the third Saturday in July, making parade day July 20 in 2013. This 9 day festival features farmer olympics, road races, arts & crafts, fireworks, river races, and mashed potato wrestling, and much more! Fun for the entire family. Don't miss this "spudtacular" event. The Maine Potato Blossom Festival is one of the oldest and most established festivals in Maine. Founded in 1937, this venue was created to celebrate Maine's supreme commodity, the potato. No matter who you go with to the festival, there is something for everyone's interest. Some of the traditional activities include the Maine Potato Blossom Queen Pageant, the Annual Antique Tractor Pull and fireworks over the beautiful Aroostook River. Do you want your pet to get his/her moment of fame? Enter your furry pal in the Household Pet Show. There's food, singing, dancing, arts & crafts, horse shows, mashed potato wrestling and so much more. Who knew potatoes could be so much fun? Jul 15 thru Jul 20, 2013. The Central Maine Egg Festival Committee and the Town of Pittsfield are pleased to welcome our many guests to the 41st Annual Central Maine Egg Festival from Monday, July 15 to Saturday, July 20, 2013. Our theme this year is SpEGGTacular Circus. The Town of Pittsfield is home to the Egg Festival. A quiet industrial community of less than 5,000 people, Pittsfield welcomes approximately 35,000 visitors each July. A large Street Dance, Egglympics, window painting, art show and craft fair are just a few of the scheduled events during the week leading up to the Big Day - Saturday, July 20 - which features The Big Parade, Kiwanis Karnival with its rides and booths, and fireworks. It is the event of the year in Pittsfield and the region. Founded in 1973, the Egg Festival was designed to celebrate the egg industry in Central Maine and complement the already popular Kiwanis Karnival. Though the egg industry has all but left the region, the Festival remains stronger than ever. The Festival prides itself on providing a venue for area non-profit groups to come together and fundraise for their programs. There is something for everyone at this very friendly event!
