Joe and Kim Westrich credit the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center in Portland for saving their daughter Maddie’s life.

Now, the couple along with the two centers have designed a specialty license plate, which has been approved by the Maine Secretary of State!

The State needs at least two thousand folks to prepay $25 for the plate before September 1st.  If that goal is met, the State will then begin to produce the specialty plates, and  everyone who prepaid will get one.  The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital will then receive $10 per plate, and then another $10 every time one's registration is renewed.

In a press release, Kim Westrich said, "All of us in the state of Maine should be doing all that we can to ensure that the wonderful facility that is The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital and its staff of professional caregivers have all the resources they need to continue providing the best medical care possible.  I cannot express the feeling of comfort my family and I have felt with the services and staff at this hospital. They have become like family to us. We all hope that our children will never need The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, but we should be relieved and proud to know it is there if we do.”
