Dolly Parton and Kris Kristofferson have long been legends in country music. Now, the Grammy Hall of Fame is acknowledging their impact by inducting Parton’s single ‘Jolene’ and Kristofferson’s self-titled debut album into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

It isn’t easy to get recognized by the Grammy Hall. According to the Recording Academy, the annual honor “acknowledges both singles and album recordings of all genres at least 25 years old that exhibit qualitative or historical significance.”

Nevertheless, ‘Jolene’ is Parton’s second second song to join the Grammy Hall of Fame, as ‘I Will Always Love You’ was inducted in 2007. Other newly-added classics include the Rolling Stones’ ‘Honky Tonk Women’ and B.J. Thomas’ ‘Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head,’ among others.

Albums joining the list are of great variety — George Harrison’s ‘All Things Must Pass,’ U2′s ‘The Joshua Tree’ and the soundtracks to ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘Woodstock’ are being recognized in 2014.

It’s exciting to have legendary country stars added to the mix, as they represent the genre with their remarkable and highly touted talent. In total, the Recording Academy has added 27 new titles to the current list of 960 for 2014.

The Grammy Hall of Fame’s 40th anniversary is being commemorated with a collector’s edition book, which is more than 150 pages and available here. The 2014 Grammy Awards will air live on Jan. 26 on CBS.
