Students were evacuated from Gorham High School Tuesday, one day after Gorham schools were put on lockdown following reports of a man walking down the street while carrying a rifle.

According to an email from school officials, students were evacuated to Shaw Gym at the Municipal Center, WCSH/WLBZ reports.

A student said the superintendent informed students and staff that the evacuation was due to a bomb threat.

Police said students were told to exit the school after a note was found in a boys' bathroom.

The evacuation follows a report on Monday of a man dressed in full camouflage walking down a Gorham street while carrying a rifle, which prompted lockdowns at the high school and Village Elementary School. Police searched the area, but they were unable to locate a man matching that description.

Police said the two incidents were not related.
