Golfers can have some fun for a great cause later this month at the 3rd annual Orrington Fire and Rescue Golf Tournament.  Teams are encouraged to sign up and sponsors are also still needed for the event.

The entry fee per team is two hundred twenty dollars per four-man team/$55 per person. Fire and Rescue Association Secretary Cindy Sullivan says that money is used in a variety of ways to benefit the community, including giving to local families and children at Christmas. The association will also purchase oil for families in need.

"We use it to help retired firefighters and their families, like if they have an illness or a death in the family. We use it for support, they did the training for smoke alarms when we had the tragedy last fall here in Orrington. We built a ramp recently for a retired firefighter who had cancer."

She says lunch is provided, along with t-shirts, and there will be trophies given out. The Darling's Ice Cream for a Cause Truck will also be there offering ice cream for a donation, with all the proceeds benefiting the Fire and Rescue Association.

Teams are encouraged to sign up and sponsors are also needed for the event. A sponsorship is $75 per hole. The Golf Tournament will be held on Sunday, August 18th beginning at 1pm at the Rocky Knoll Country Club in Orrington.
