CNN reports the business selling new and used games has been struggling for a while now, and sales and stocks have plummeted. The retailed announced last week the closing of 2-3% of stores.

They also plan to focus more on things like pop culture collectibles and other brands associated with the company like Spring Mobile.

This comes in a wake of store closures nationwide including KMart, Macys, and JCPenny as companies struggle to compete with online sales like Amazon.

It is unclear at this point if any of the Bangor locations will close as the list of closures has not been released yet. There are two Game Stop locations in Bangor with one in the Bangor Mall and the other off Stillwater Avenue in the shopping plaza shared by Bed, Bath and Beyond, and PetSmart.

There are 10 Game Stop locations in Maine including Portland, Waterville, Rockland, Augusta, and Biddeford.
