Game wardens say it appears that a moose that was dumped off a bridge in Franklin County was struck by a vehicle and dragged more than two miles.

The animal was located off a bridge in Lang Township, the Maine Warden Service said Tuesday.

An investigation by the agency indicates the moose was dragged more than two miles after being struck by a full-size pickup or SUV on Kennebago Road in Coplin Plantation, south of Eustis.

Wardens are trying to locate the vehicle, which may have front-end damage.

Anyone who may have information on the incident is being urged to call Augusta Public Safety dispatch at (207) 624-7076.
