Fund Set Up For Former Bucksport Man Hurt In Camp Pendleton Accident

A fundraising effort is underway to assist a former Bucksport man who was seriously injured in a military training accident last week.

Cpl. Mathew Swazey was one of 18 marines who were seriously injured in an accident at Camp Pendleton near San Diego, California.

The 21-year-old Swazey suffered broken shoulder bones, a broken clavicle, a broken femur and hip and vertebrae fractures.

As of Tuesday morning, a GoFundMe page had already raised $2,200 to assist Swazey and family members from Maine, who are traveling to California to help him make a full recovery.
