You're invited to have some family fun in Waldo on Sunday, and help a great cause at the same time. Proceeds from the Friends of Warm Waldo event will help folks in Waldo County heat their homes next winter. Along with games and food, there will be plenty of music, including from the Meghan Clark and the Tyler Healy Band that you heard live on Q!

This is the third year that the group 'Friends of Warm Waldo' have put on an event to raise money for the heating fund known as 'Warm Waldo.' In past years, it's been an overnight event, with camping and a dance. But this year, the group decided to make it more of a family fun day!

There will be a bounce house, dunk tank, and kids' games, plenty of vendors for the adults to enjoy, along with lots of food. As a matter of fact, Weaver's Roadside Variety is hosting a chicken dinner! For ten bucks, you'll get a chicken breast, coleslaw, beans, a roll, and a drink.

In addition, there will be music throughout the day, provided by a variety of local performers. Joe Hunt, Jim Fraser, Bob White, John Whitmansr, Cornell McLellan, Meghan Clark, and the Tyler Healy band will all be there! You may remember Meghan and Tyler from their visits to our on-air studio. They're awesome! In addition, Mobile Entertainment Solutions will provide music and line dancing. And don't miss the silent and live auctions with lots of great items up for bid!

Organizer Rob Dunbar contacted me today and wanted us to pass along that the fundraiser is happening, rain or shine! So don't let a few raindrops keep you away from all the fun. He has a canopy being delivered Saturday, so everyone can stay dry. It's happening this Sunday, June 28th, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Weaver's Roadside Variety, 1386 Waterville Road, in Waldo.

All the money raised, as we said, will go toward helping folks in Waldo County heat their homes in the winter. The emergency fund helps when someone runs out of oil or propane or whatever, and have to wait to get a delivery. If you're unable to make the fundraiser but want to donate, you can mail checks, made out to Warm Waldo, to Beverly Winship, 325 Town Farm Road, Unity, ME 04988.
