This Friday, January 9th,  you can show your support of our local law enforcement members by doing a variety of things!

L.E.A.D., or Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, organized by the FBINAA and other organizations is a way to "show law enforcement officers that our citizens recognize the difficult and sometimes impossible career they have chosen, in public service to us all."

Let's face it, law enforcement is a high risk career path to take.  According to the FBINNA's website, "between 105 and 203 officers die in the line of duty each year, 50,000 officers are assaulted, 14,000 are injured, and over 300 commit suicide."

A few suggested ways to show your support to our local men and women of law enforcement are:

  • See a police officer?  Thank a police officer.
  • Wear blue clothing.
  • Post something nice on a police department's social media account.
  • Have your kids write a nice letter to a cop.
  • Display a blue light.
  • Use the image below as your Facebook image for the day.

Most of our local law enforcement agencies have social media accounts so in today's day and age passing along a message is a very easy thing to do!  Here's a list of local departments and the links to their Facebook page!

How do you plan on thanking a cop?
