Freightliner Truck Knocks Down Power Lines In Smyrna
Some Smyrna residents lost power after a Freightliner truck came into contact with power lines along Route 2 Wednesday morning.
The 2000 Freightliner truck was being operated by Terry Ouellette, 39, of Fort Kent, police said in a news release on Wednesday.
Ouellette was turning onto Route 2 from Duck Pond Road when the vehicle made contact with the power lines, pulling them to the ground and breaking two utility poles, the release said.
Some nearby residents lost power and Route 2 was shut down for about an hour while crews cleaned up the accident.
The Maine DOT, Emera and the Oakfield Fire Department assisted at the scene.
