A free flu shot clinic for young people will be held this Thursday at the Bangor Police Department.

The immunizations are being offered free of charge, on a first-come-first-served basis by Public Health and Community Services, in partnership with the Bangor Police. Parents can bring their children to the second floor of the Police Department, 240 Main Street in Bangor, between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 1st.

Children ages 6 months through 18 years of age are eligible for the shots that will cover four of the worst strains of influenza expected this year. Health officials say getting vaccinated is the best protection against the flu. While it won't necessarily prevent people from getting sick, it will greatly lessen the symptoms and duration of the illness.

Parking will be available at the police department. Anyone with questions, can contact Jennifer Theriault of Bangor Public Health & Community Services at 992-4547.
