Police have released the names of four people who were killed, and four others injured, in a two-car accident in Berwick on Saturday.

WMTW-TV reports the accident happened at around 1:30 Saturday afternoon on Route 4, when a Honda Civic, driven by 31-year-old Robert Howard of Buxton, made an improper pass. Howard lost control of the car, causing it to slide into the path of a Ford Explorer, driven by 46-year-old Hope Stamps of Woburn, Massachusetts. Howard and his passengers, 29-year-old Kevin Clark and 7-year-old Davin Clark, died at the scene.

A passenger in Stamps' vehicle, 73-year-old Barbara Allen of Wells, passed away at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, in Dover, New Hampshire. Police say K-La Scott, age 22 of Gorham, was the only passenger in Howard's vehicle who survived the crash. Stamps, and her passengers, 49-year-old Eurie Stamps and 17-year-old Shannon Stamps, were treated at local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.

Route 4 was closed for several hours as police investigated, with assistance from the Maine Warden Service.
