The State Fire Marshal’s office says four teenage boys have been charged in connection with fires at two locations in Jonesport. All four juveniles, whose names are not being released due to their ages, were charged and then released to the custody of their parents.

The most recent of the fires slightly damaged a bait shed on a wharf at 20 Ocean Avenue on Saturday. Investigators then learned of several small fires set inside an unoccupied single family house at 186 Main Street. The fires inside the home caused little damage, according to the Fire Marshal’s office.

The State Fire Marshal conducted the investigation, assisted by the Jonesport Fire Department, which resulted in Monday’s arrests of the four teens. All of the juveniles are from Jonesport.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release today that a 13-year-old and 14-year-old were charged with arson, burglary, and criminal trespass. A 14-year-old is charged with two counts of burglary and arson, and a 16-year-old was charged with criminal trespass.

The boys are scheduled to appear in juvenile court in Machias on March 4th.
