Four Face Charges In Separate Downeast Drug Busts

Four arrests were made after police intercepted two shipments of drugs bound for Washington and Hancock counties.

On Friday, two Waterville men were arrested after drug agents stopped their vehicle on Interstate 95 in Brewer. MDEA agents had the vehicle under surveillance. A state police drug detection dog was used to help locate 35 grams of cocaine base, a few grams of cocaine and more than $3,500 in cash.

Kenneth Ortega, 22, and Wayne Sudborough, 45, both of Waterville,  were charged with trafficking. Both were transported to the Penobscot County Jail. Bail for both men was set at $50,000  each and they remain in custody.

In a separate incident on Saturday, two women from the Machias area were charged with aggravated trafficking after police stopped their vehicle in Newport. A state police drug detection dog was again brought to the scene and helped agents found 75 grams of heroin and 100 Oxycodone tablets

Meredith Hinerman, 38, of Machiasport and Holly Pellon, 51, of Machias, were transported to the Penobscot County Jail. Hinerman’s bail is set at $50,000 and Pellon’s bail is set at $75,000. Both women remained in custody on Tuesday.
