Four Maine residents have been charged in connection with the illegal killings of at least four deer in April.

19-year-old Zachary Black from Jay and 19-year-old Kyle Elliott of Fayette face night hunting charges.

Two minors from Livermore were also charged with night hunting.

Cpl. John MacDonald of the Maine Warden Service says all four deer were does. He says they were likely killed in open fields at night and left to waste.

MacDonald says the suspects were charged following an extensive six-month investigation, which included night surveillance details.

All four suspects are scheduled to appear in court in February.
