A former Bangor High School basketball coach has pleaded guilty to operating while under the influence of alcohol.

Centralmaine.com reports Carl Parker resigned from his job as coach of the Bangor High school varsity boys' team after he was arrested last month. He crashed his car while returning from a coaches meeting, and was arrested when police measured his blood alcohol level at twice the legal limit.

His lawyer says Parker pleaded guilty because he wants to take reponsibility for his actions. He's ordered to pay a $500 fine and will take part in a program that involves counseling and community service.
