Forest Rangers say a tree caught fire in Medway at a location that's not accessible by vehicle.

Now, investigators are looking for the person(s) responsible for the fire on an ITS connector trail east of the interstate. The fire was started sometime around noon on Tuesday and it took crews about four hours to put out. The efforts were complicated by the remoteness of the area. In a post on the department's Facebook page, Rangers say the fire was spotted by a Maine Forest Ranger helicopter flight crew out on a resource protection mission.

Anyone with information about who set the fire, or who might have seen something out of the ordinary while snowmobiling in that area is asked to call the Maine State Police at 973-3700.
