A Ford Focus was rear-ended by a tractor trailer just after it had struck a moose on I-95.

It's a scary chain reaction that could have ended much worse for the people in the small car. State Police say 30-year-old Christopher Allen of Sherman was traveling south on I-95 in Oakfield when he struck a moose that ran into the roadway. The moose was killed in the collision.

Allen's Focus was then struck from behind by a Peterbuilt tractor trailer being driven by 60-year-old Freddie Brown of Woodland. Brown was also southbound and tried to ditch his truck when he saw that the car  had hit the moose. While he wasn't able to completely miss the car, the outcome would have been very different if he hadn't tried to avoid the collision.

Allen and his passenger, 35-year-old Jessica Price, were taken to Houlton Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Brown wasn't hurt in the accident. Allen's vehicle is considered a total loss while the semi suffered significant damage.
