A Florida man was swallowed up by the Earth when a sinkhole opened up beneath his bedroom. Yahoo! reports that 37-year-old Jeff Bush sunk into the ground along with the entire room. Five others in the home escaped unharmed.

Jeff's brother jumped into the hole, as he watched the furniture sink, and started digging for Jeff, but never reached him. The brother had to be pulled from the sinkhole by first responders.

Bush is presumed dead. Engineers are now working to determine whether they can safely retrieve his body. They're trying to figure out whether the work would jeopardize the rest of the Seffner subdivision. Seffner is a suburb of Tampa. It remains unclear what caused the sinkhole. Experts say it could have started a million years ago.
