Robert Craig was arrested in the parking lot of a business in Largo, Florida around 3 p.m. Thursday, according to Maine State Police spokesman Steve McCausland. Craig is being held on a fugitive from justice charge and will face a murder charge when he is returned to Maine. He will likely make his first court appearance in Florida either Friday or Monday, McCausland said.

Craig is charged in connection with the death of 86-year-old Leo Corriveau, whose body was found inside his mobile home in Presque Isle Saturday afternoon. An autopsy revealed Corriveau had been strangled.

Police say the two men had lived across the street from each other in Clearwater, Florida and had known each other for three to four years. Craig had recently travelled to Maine with Corriveau to spend a couple of weeks with him at his Presque Isle home.

Two Maine State Police detectives travelled to Clearwater Wednesday and have been working with the Clearwater Police Department to gather more information. An arrest warrant was authorized by the Maine Attorney General’s Office Thursday afternoon and the Maine detectives and Clearwater Police arrested Craig without incident, McCausland said.
