A father and son were arrested following a five-hour standoff at a Bridgton motel on Thursday.

John Connolly, 53, and his son, John Siciliani, 30, barricaded themselves in a room at the First and Last Motel on Route 302, reports the Portland Press Herald.

Police had issued an arrest warrant for Siciliani, who was involved in an alleged assault Wednesday night. Police say they went to the motel on Thursday to arrest Siciliani, be he retreated into a room with his father.

The two refused to come out of the room, prompting a number of law enforcement agencies to respond to the scene.

At about 4:30 p.m., the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department asked Central Maine Power to cut electricity to the motel. A short time later, the father and son surrendered peacefully.

Police have not determined what charges the two will face in connection with the standoff.
