State Police say two people are dead after a crash in Liberty on Wednesday evening.

Centralmaine.com reports the accident happened just after 5:30 Wednesday evening on Route 3 in Liberty, near the entrance to Lake St. George park. State Police say a car crossed the center line and struck an oncoming pickup truck. Two people were killed and a third person, the driver of one of the vehicles, was taken to a Belfast hospital. There's no word on how seriously that person was hurt.

The accident happened just a quarter mile from the site of another fatal crash on Tuesday. In that crash, 55-year-old William Chadwick of Oakland was killed when his pickup was hit by a rented box truck, driven by Dusan Dokic of Spanaway, Washington.

The names of the people involved in Wednesday's accident have not been released.

We'll update this story when more details become available.
