Fairfield Mom Charged With Murder In Death Of Newborn

State Police have charged a Fairfield mom with murder in connection with the death of her newborn son.

Detectives arrested 20-year-old Kayla Stewart at her home on Route 139 on Friday.

She was arrested without incident and taken to the Somerset County Jail.

Her son's body was found in a garage near her home on January 11.

Her longtime boyfriend, Nicholas Blood, is still living in the home. The couple's three-year-old daughter is now staying with other family members.

Stewart’s first court appearance will take place in Skowhegan on Monday.
