A Fairfield man charged with murder in the shooting death of his wife pleaded not not guilty on Friday.

Luc Tieman, 33, was arraigned in Somerset County Superior Court.

He's accused of shooting his wife, Valerie Tieman, 34, in the head and neck and burying her body on his parent's Fairfield property.

Valerie Tieman's parents, who live in South Carolina, contacted Fairfield police and reported their daughter missing on Sept. 9.

Luc Tieman initially told police his wife disappeared during a trip to the Skowhegan Wal-Mart on Aug. 30.

He was arrested Sept. 21, one day after his wife's body was located in the woods behind 628 Norridgewock Road.

A bottle of perfume, a bag of potato chips and an apologetic note were found under her body.
