Who says you can't bike in the winter?! Not the wide tired bikers taking to the trail this weekend!

The newer sport taking over trails in the winter is fat biking! It's basically mountain biking with big wide tires for stability and traction in the winter conditions.

This Sunday at 9:30 AM fat bikers will race the single track trail though Essex Woods beginning at Watchmaker Rd. in Bangor. The trail conditions will vary based on the weather but will be raced no matter the conditions. The trail has some climbs and some downward slopes. See the race map below.

The trail is about 4 to 4.25 miles. The number of laps will be determined by the rider's registration class. Experts will do 3 laps, Sport will do 2 and Novice do one.

You can pre-register online here. Or you can register to participate the day of the race from 7:30AM to 8:30AM at the start site.
