Power has been restored to about 30,000 customers since a major snowstorm hit Maine on Sunday. Since then, crews from Emera have uncovered extensive damage to the electrical system. Additional crews from within and outside the state, including Canada, have been called in to assist.

Damage includes broken poles and tree limbs as well as fallen power lines. Hancock and Penobscot Counties currently present the most challenges.

Emera's customer service center is reporting that call volume remains high and customers may experience a wait time. Additional personnel from other areas of the company are assisting with customer calls in an effort to address customer concerns as quickly as possible. Customers may continue to report outages online at www.emeramaine.com.

People who need shelter or other assistance should call 211. Those using alternate heat or power sources are reminded to follow the manufacturer's guidelines.

Customers can help with restoration efforts by ensuring side roads and driveways are well plowed and sanded to allow trucks to access those areas in need of repair. Please use caution when traveling near Emera Maine crews working in the field.
