Emera Maine has restored power to all of its customers affected by an Oct. 30 windstorm that caused nearly half a million homes and businesses throughout the state to lose power, the company said Tuesday.

The peak number of outages that affected customers in the company’s service territory was 90,000.

Emera Maine over the next few days will continue to repair damage caused by the storm and work to restore the electrical system back to its pre-storm condition, the company said in a news release.

Crews also will be patrolling key power lines to identify and clear trees weakened or damaged by the storm, potentially preventing future outages.

“The storm brought extensive damage to a number of New England states,” the company said in the release. “All affected utilities benefited from sharing of resources to get the power restored, and there are many people to thank. First and foremost our Emera Maine employees that worked safely and tirelessly throughout the storm.”

Some customers experienced damage to private equipment that will need to be repaired by an electrician. The company is working closely with those customers to coordinate reconnection of their power once repairs have been completed.

Additional crews from as far away as Florida assisted Emera Maine in its restoration effort.

Wind gusts during the storm exceeded 65 mph in Penobscot and Hancock Counties and brought down trees and limbs, damaging poles and power lines throughout Emera Maine’s service territory.
