A community got together and ran Elvis out of town. They felt he was too loud and were tired of waking up to his songs every single morning. And so dear Elvis has left his Maine community and gone on to greener pastures.

Elvis is a rooster. Up until just recently, he lived in the Portland-area community of Cape Elizabeth. But the town council on Thursday voted 5-2 to ban residents from keeping roosters on lots smaller than 40,000 square feet, or just under an acre.

The ordinance was passed after neighbors complained of a family that owned the loud rooster named Elvis in a community of tightly-packed homes. Obviously, they didn't enjoy being awakened at dawn everyday!

Councilor James Sherman told the Associated Press that roosters don't belong in heavily populated areas. However, councilors who voted against the ban worried about the town losing its agricultural heritage.

As for Elvis, his former family says he's already been given away to another home. I hope they have plenty of room, some chicks to hang out in the jungle room, and fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches!
